Walking Tours – Every Wednesday from 14th August until 25th September

Successful Sutton is giving visitors, residents and workers a chance to find out more about the fascinating history of the town centre by introducing a series of free guided history walks.

The tours will cover the origins and development of the town, stories of bygone times in Sutton, and the features of some of the historic buildings. These free walks will take place on Wednesdays at 3pm and 5.30pm from August 14th to September 25th and will last for about 1 1/4 hours. The meeting point is at the top of the High Street, by the crossroads at the sign of the Cock, just outside Barclays and Caffé Nero.

Ross Feeney, Chief Executive of Successful Sutton said, “Sutton town centre has a fascinating history that we should be proud of. We want these guided walks to help people learn about the town and see all that it has to offer today. The walk will also be useful to employers who want their staff to learn about Sutton.”

    1. Yes please do just turn up – I have been getting some great feedback from participants and it would be lovely to see you on one of the tours. They will run until September 25th so there is plenty of time left to come on one and please bring your friends.

      Many Thanks

  2. Hi
Just to say how much we enjoyed our walk with you yesterday (Wednesday 28th). Having lived in the area all my life, thought I knew the area well only to discover I knew nothing!!! It was extremely interesting, well organised and a very pleasant way to spend an afternoon in the sunshine. Well done to all concerned.

  3. Highly recommended for anyone with an interest in Sutton. Chas Bailey’s introduction to the town is both erudite and entertaining covering its historical origins and evolution into the busy London suburb which it is today.

  4. I very much enjoyed the tour, learned a thing or two about Sutton’s history and what the buildings along the high street are for. I would recommend it for everyone, already shared in on Facebook. There could also be tours about Sutton’s shops, like the first all bar one, or the first drive through burger king etc telling a bit more about why so many shops started up here. Anyway, very good tour, time well spent.

  5. A really enjoyable and informative tour obviously well researched and delivered with humour and a passion for Sutton. We were amazed to discover that we had been walking past nuggets of history and never noticed! Well done! Will be recommending to friends and family.

    1. We are currently running one shuttle for February. As for the plans for 2014, we are still in discussions as to whether we can continue the service, we will keep you posted. Thank you for your comments.
