Summer In Sutton

Get set for a summer of fun in Sutton.

We have got the summer months covered with a feast of free family entertainment – from live music and film screenings to crazy golf and BMX stunts.

It all kicks off on Saturday, June 6, with our red-hot Chilli Fiesta. We will be turning up the heat with a day dedicated to all things chilli. Sample chilli-based dishes, which will include anything from hot curries to sauces and ice creams, as well as chilli beers and cocktails between 10am and 5pm on the high street.

Dosey doe down to Sutton’s Country Music Festival on Sunday, July 5, with live country music and dancing from 10am to 4.30pm. Hosted by Ralph Petty, the festival includes performances by Bob Keeley, popular trio the Ray Peters Band and award-winning line dance duo, Calico. Parking is £1 all day at the St Nicholas, Times Square and Gibson Road car parks.

Sutton Live returns this summer for one day in July. We will be showcasing an eclectic mix of local musical talent. Bands, solo artists and choirs will perform live in Trinity Square with something to suit all musical tastes. So sit back in a deckchair, enjoy a spot of lunch and some great free entertainment from 12pm to 3pm on Saturday, July 11.

Throughout August you can tee-off on our nine-hole crazy golf course, which is guaranteed to keep the kids amused over the school holidays. The course, which will be installed in the high street, is designed to suit all ages and abilities. Just turn up and play between 10am-4.30pm or, if that seems a bit too energetic, you can watch the kids tackle the course while relaxing in a deckchair.

Sutton’s popular open-air cinema returns for two dates this year. The pop-up Sunset Cinema will show a popular musical comedy* at 9pm on August 22.  Then a very popular princess* will be making an appearance on September 12 at 7.30pm.  *Films will be announced as soon as we have the licenses confirmed.

And our award-winning historic walks are back for the summer. Led by tour guide Chas Bailey, the walks take place every Thursday at 3pm and 5.30pm until August 27. New this year is a series of Sunday strolls taking in Sutton’s history, architecture and church walks. They will take place on May 24, June 14, July 26 and August 16. No booking is required but places are limited. Meet at the top of the High Street, by the crossroads just outside Barclays Bank and Caffé Nero.

We’re rounding off our summer of fun in Sutton with a high-octane show of tricks and flicks by professional skateboarders and BMX riders. They will be performing jaw dropping displays on a skate ramp with workshops running between the live demonstrations as part of Sutton College’s Big Event in Manor Park on September 5.
