Don’t miss out as record numbers turn out for the Historic Guided Walks

32 people enjoyed the free guided walks last Wednesday afternoon which was amazing.  Hosted by Chas Bailey, these tours have been a wonderful addition to the Sutton High Street over the last month.  Over 140 people to date have taken the tours, Alison Cooke is just one of them,

Alison and Des Cooke said “A really enjoyable and informative tour obviously well researched and delivered with humour and a passion for Sutton. We were amazed to discover that we had been walking past nuggets of history and never noticed! Well done! Will be recommending to friends and family”.

Don’t forget that this Wednesday 25th September is the last day of our Free Historic Guided Walks around Sutton.  Please arrive early to secure your space.  Tours start at 3pm and 5.30pm.  Meet at the top of the high street, by the crossroads at the sign of the cock, just outside Barclays and Caffe Nero.

  1. After my father recommended it I went on the last 5.30pm tour on 26th September and it was most enjoyable. He came along too for his second time in case he’d missed a bit the first time! A pleasant pace with frequent stops for well presented information, both recent and historic which I never knew a thing about even though I have walked passed these places countless times. “What? the oldest one in the WORLD – in Sutton..? But I’ve bought stuff from that place…” I was surprised to find out.

I hope it returns and continues to be well supported.

I would look forward to the same in Cheam or Carshalton perhaps in future – a fine way to build up an appetite or thirst!

  2. A very enjoyable and informative walk. Would welcome more covering different parts of the town and maybe Cheam and Worcester Park as well. An excellent initiative.
