Successful Sutton has created a scheme to assist business owners, tenants and landlords to improve the external appearance of their premises. The grants, of up to £2500, are match funded by the applicant themselves.
The high street is the commercial centre of the community; the appearance of shop fronts and the buildings in which they reside has a considerable impact and influence on the character of a town centre. Shop fronts are an essential element not only of the buildings in which they are set but also of the wider streetscape. A shop front that has been designed with respect given to the architecture of the building and character of the surrounding area can add charm and vitality, making it attractive to shoppers and visitors alike.
Our business improvement grant aims to improve shop fronts and building facades in the centre of Sutton as a means of supporting the growth of local businesses, improving the local environment and raising the image of the town centre for locals and visitors.
The scheme is administered and funded by Successful Sutton as part of our BID strategy for high street improvement.
Grants will be awarded up to a maximum of £2,500 or 50% of the total cost of improvements whichever is lower. All applications for funding must be received by 31st March 2016 and all works completed by 31st October 2016.
Guidance notes are available to help you understand the aims of the scheme, to guide you through the application process and show how you can make a grant application. You may need planning consent or advice about improvements to a building within the area so may need to contact the Planning Department prior to making an application. Please therefore read the guidance notes carefully before making your application.
